Setting Up Network Print Presets

Network Print Presets are an effective way to define printing option presets which can then be assigned within the Network Printer Selection. This article provides guidance for IT administrators on how to create and utilize a preset.

Prerequisites​

In order to follow through with the setup and test of the network printer selection, you need:

  1. A set up Business Central environment.
  2. The Client Setup has been installed to the necessary users clients.
  3. The necessary network printers are reachable from the users clients and visible within the Network Printers in Business Central.
  4. The b.print driver has been installed to a network printer.
  5. The b.print extension has been installed to the desired BC environment.
  6. All settings relevant to the Assisted Setup have been configured.

Creating and configuring a new print preset​

  1. Navigate to the Business Central Search
  2. Search for Network Print Presets and open the page.
  3. Under Preset Code enter a code for a preset that fits the purpose of the preset. (eg. DELIVERY)
  4. Under Description enter a fitting description that fits the purpose of the preset. (eg. Delivery Note)
  5. Under Color select a color scheme used for the preset when printing.
  6. Under Duplex select whether the printing should be done in Duplex, Simplex, etc.
  7. Under Orientation, select the desired orientation for the printout if this preset is used.
  8. Under Paper Size, select the paper size for the printout if this preset is used.
  9. Under Scaling, select the scaling size for the printout if this preset is used.
  10. Under Tray. select the tray which is used when printing via this preset.
  11. Under Number of copies, you can select how many copies should be made every time a print is made with this preset active.

Utilizing a created preset​

In order to utilize the created preset, it needs to be entered in the Network Printer Selection.

  1. Navigate to the Business Central Search
  2. Search for Network Printer Selection and open the page.
  3. Select a line for which you want to use the preset or create a new one.
  4. Under Print Preset, you can now, select your previously created print preset.

Congratulations! You have successfully set up and assigned a print preset. Feel free to try it out by printing a document for which the printer selection has been set up.
